GT-R's impressive reputation has been improved in the 2012 model year accomplishing 0-100km in approx 2.88 seconds. The GTR will outrun just about anything on the road off the line.
Below, please find a couple of the upgrades for the exclusive Black edition GTR that will be available in Canada.
2012 NISSAN GT-R UPGRADES
The 2012 Nissan GT-Rs advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 now produces 530 horsepower (versus the previous 485HP) and 488 lb-ft of torque ( versus the previous 434 lb-ft)- a result of modifying the boost pressure of the turbocharger, valve timing and air mixture ratio, and through reducing intake air resistance by enlarging the inlet pipe diameter. In addition, exaust air resistance was reduced through the use of a enlarged section of the exaust pipe.
GTR's already impressive aerodynamics have been improved for 2012 with Downforce increase by about 10% and the coefficient of drag reduced to 0.26 (from 0.27). Stability is improved by enlarged fascia and grille openings, which also help reduce air resistance inside the engine compartment. The volume of air that passes through the radiator and cools the front brakes is also increased.
The newly refreshed front fascia features aggressive double rectifier fins and new integrated high intensity LED running lights. Additional plater parts are used for the headlight inner panels, enhacing the car's strong visual presence.
The redesigned rear fascia features a lower centre of gravity than the previous design, created by using a sculpted lower section and extended length. Underfloor cooling performance is also enhanced and air resistance reduced by extending the rear diffuser.
In addition, cooling performance for the muffler is improved and rear downforce is increased by about 10% through use of a new rear fascia outlet and new vents on the lower rear fenders that help remove air from the rear wheel wells. Newly designed larger diameter tail pipe finishers are also adopted. Six exterior colours are available, including two new colours: Deep Blue Pearl and Jet Black. Other available colours are solid red, Gun Mettalic, Pearl White and a limited production four stage mettalic Super Silver.
GT-R's newly designed, lighter weight, and more rigit forged alluminium 20" Wheels, once again manufactured by RAYS, help improve suspension response. Knurling inside the wheels is modified to help keep the tires from slipping around the wheels under heavy accelerations or braking. The wheels also features a new premium dark (near black) finish, which provides a high quality, high performance look. The BLACK EDITION features special black 6 spoke RAYS, lightweight wheels in place of the premium model's ten spoke design.
Inside, the revisions for 2012 include new carbon fibre trim and upgraded materials. The BLACK EDITION adds custom red trimmed RECARO seats, red and black interior trim and a dark headliner.
Nissan's Legendary supercar has been shattering records since the R35 edition came into North America in 2009. For the price point and value for your dollar, the Nissan GT-R is debateably the best all around supercar on the international market today.
Winning records on and off the track, the GT-R is not only a supercar that will compete with some of the highest end cars in the world , but it is an all around daily driver with the capability to be driven year round if you so choose. In fact, I do have a couple customer that drive their GT-R year round through the snow in Calgary.
Constructed of a high Strength and light weight alluminium and Carbon fiber composite body structure and paired with an Advanced All- Wheel Drive system (ATTESA E-TS), the GT-R's twin turbocharged 24Valve V6 engine will rocket it to 100km per hour in less than 3 seconds (2012 spec of 2.88 seconds). The dual wet clutch automatic transmission allows the vehicle to shift faster than humanly possible while providing you with the option of a manual/xtronic mode that allow you to control the gears from the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
The GT-R provides all the creature comforts for Luxury including all the comfort and electronic gadgets you would want in a supercar.
In addition to the luxury features, the GT-R features a dynamic display system that allow you to customize and personalize the performance telemetry of your vehicle in real time:
From this screen you monitor dynamics such as boost presure, transmission oil temp, engine oil temp and much more. This display can be customized and comes with factory setting as well so you can keep track of your vehicles performance on the go.
In addition to all the telemetry information, the GT-R has three switches on the main dash that allow you to control Suspension stiffness and response, transmission settings, and VDC (aka Stability control) Settings. These can be adjusted on the fly to put vehicle into racing or comfort modes based on the driving conditions.
Unlike most supercars today, the GT-R does not have outrageous maintenance costs and has proven itself year after year as an all around winner in the supercar market for Canada.
